New Personal Development Classes at JPL - July 10

Andrea Giggetts of Giggetts and Associates will lead two half day workshops at the Jacksonville Main Library, Multipurpose Room 1, on Tuesday, July 10.  Register to attend one or both workshops. These classes are free and open to staff in Florida Libraries.

What Got You Here Won’t Get You There - Discovering the Workplace Habits You Need to Break!
9:00 am - 12:00 noon
What’s holding you back? You are working hard but there is something standing between you and the next level of achievement. That something may just be one of your own annoying habits or perhaps a behavior you barely even recognize. Andrea Giggetts will outline the habits and behaviors found in the work environment and provide a systematic approach to helping you achieve a positive change. Objective: Our goal is to assist you in performing at the next level and to offer a continuous improvement plan to increase their effectiveness.

Attitudes Toward Differences
1:00 - 4:00 pm
Today, we find ourselves in more diverse families, communities, and workplaces. Our challenge is to look for ways we can connect with people who may have very different experiences from our own. Sometimes getting the discussion started is the most difficult part. Objective: You’ll develop skills needed to successfully build connections with others so that you can communicate more effectively, resolve conflict, and work more productively. You’ll learn how to deal with diversity issues by building relationships using the skills of empathy, inquiry, and dialogue but in a non-judging, non-blaming manner. Ultimately, participants are led to new insights, understanding, and new behaviors, thereby seeing the world in new ways. In addition, this seminar gives attendees an opportunity to share the insights they have gained and, in small group settings, make statements about what they are going to do differently as a result of their new insights. Finally, attendees will be inspired to actively and openly discuss issues and to take responsibility for making a diverse workforce an asset.
