Call for Poster Proposals: FLA Annual Conference, May 1-3, 2013

The FLA Continuing Education committee invites proposals for posters to be exhibited during the FLA Annual Conference in Orlando, FL. To learn more about the conference, please go to the conference page: http://www.flalib.org/conference_2013.php

We encourage proposals for posters related to the program theme "New Possibilities and Partnerships” chosen by current FLA president Barbara Stites. Posters should illustrate some of the many ways that Florida libraries are focusing on “new perspectives, possibilities and partnerships” and highlight the new and exciting ways libraries are improving and introducing new and better products and services.

For more information on the conference theme, please visit: http://www.flalib.org/president_theme/Stites_theme_2013.pdf

Poster proposals will be accepted from Thursday, Nov. 1, 2012 until Friday, Jan. 25, 2013 at 11:59 p.m. Each presenter will have access to a poster display board and a table on which handouts and other materials can be placed. Access to electrical outlets will not be available, so please plan accordingly. Please use the following link to read more about the poster sessions and to access the online submission form: https://sites.google.com/a/eckerd.edu/flapostersession/
Poster proposals should:

  • Be well written, clear, and organized
  • Be original, timely, and relevant to the conference theme
  • Contribute to the advancement of Florida librarianship
  • Develop ideas, offer significant conclusions, and provide useful and practical findings
  • Appeal to and engage the audience, offering opportunities for discussion and interaction
  • Provide a good visual description of the project
  • Demonstrate innovative thinking

DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION: Friday, January 25th 2013, 11:59 p.m.
Review of submissions will begin immediately and acceptance letters will be sent out at the beginning of February. All poster session presenters must be registered for the conference (either the full conference or for the day of their session). March 1, 2013 is the cutoff date for early registration which offers a significant discount.
Poster proposals submitted by vendors will not be considered.
